An attitude is a behavior which is generated by an emotion; it is the adoption, voluntary or not, of a position relative to a specific situation.

The expression "What is that attitude?" is the expression of an interpretation or decoding of a thought attributed to a third party who has a specific behavior. In the interpretation of an attitude, there is an attribution of a voluntary thought while it may be, most of the time, an emotional state on which the one who experiences it is not aware of.

A grimace can be associated with insolence, contempt, disgust, etc.... The behavior will be the grimace and according to the context it would be possible to interpret it more or less correctly.

The person whose attitude will be guessed, if he is surprised to be so legible, will either adopt an attitude of denial or strengthen his behavioral position or adopt another one, according to his ability of adaptation...
