The Scottish Branch of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) aims to promote the use of arbitration, mediation, adjudication and other alternative means of dispute resolution in Scotland, both domestically and internationally.

The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Dispute Resolution Services provides a range of administered dispute resolution schemes for consumers who have service disputes.

These are funded so costs of application are low and provide a simple and speedy "documents only" way of resolving consumer disputes.

The schemes include an arbitration scheme for package holiday disputes, a conciliation and arbitration scheme for funeral disputes, an adjudication scheme for mobile phones and internet service disputes and a Scottish Fair Traders Scheme initiated by Trading Standards that operates within the Angus region of Scotland."
