Recognition is a set of acts, attitudes and behaviors by which someone appreciates someone else.

The recognition of legitimacy of a person's feelings by someone else is a fundamental act of the conflict resolution. Not recognizing the aspirations, expectations, needs, even the requests, desires, wishes of the person considered as an adversary as legitimate maintains the conflictual climate.

Therefore, recognition maintains the quality of human relationships and promotes disputes prevention, by emphasizing dialogue and communication.
